Xiaomi, the group behind MiMo, was founded in April 2010 by Lei Jun and seven co-founders, and its headquarters are in Beijing.1, 3

The MiMo family began in April 2025 with MiMo-7B, which Xiaomi describes as its first open-sourced large language reasoning model.5
The 7-billion-parameter model was trained from scratch on approximately 25 trillion tokens of pre-training data, and its base, SFT and RL checkpoints were published.11
MiMo-VL-7B, a multimodal model, followed in May 2025, and the MiMo-Audio paper appeared in September 2025.5, 12
In December 2025 the company unveiled the open-sourced MiMo-V2-Flash, a Mixture-of-Experts model with 309 billion total and 15 billion active parameters.1
MiMo-V2-Pro, with over 1 trillion total parameters, was released in March 2026 together with the MiMo-V2-Omni multimodal model.1
The MiMo-V2.5 series arrived in April 2026, and the MiMo-V2.6 series, two natively multimodal models with published weights, followed on 22 September 2026.8, 13, 14
The Hugging Face model cards list the MIT license for several MiMo releases.6, 7, 8
The MiMo API platform outside mainland China is operated by a Singapore company that stores data in Singapore, or in the Netherlands for users in the EEA, UK and Switzerland.9, 10
